Steenbergs Russian Caravan Tea is a blend of loose leaf black tea blend that is created and blended at the Steenbergs tea factory in North Yorkshire.
Axel Steenberg (one of the founders of Steenbergs and the key blender)'s uncle used to serve a Russian Caravan Tea from a wooden tea caddy that he had and Axel used to imagine the tea coming all the way from Russia.Â
Steenbergs make this tea with a blend of China teas - Keemun tea, organic Yunnan, organic Lapsang Souchong. It is a light brewing tea with delicate smoky aromas and tastes. Technically, Keemun tea is too modern to have been used and it would probably have been a Ching Wo tea or such like with perhaps some Kintuck in there, but Keemun is really delicious and Axel feels a better base.
How to make Steenbergs loose leaf Russian Caravan Tea - into a warmed teapot, put 1 teaspoon of Steenbergs Russian Caravan Tea per cup plus 1 teaspoon for the pot. Bring fresh water to the boil and then pour over the Steenbergs Russian Caravan Tea and brew for 3 - 5 minutes. Add milk or lemon to taste.
